Seton Hall's Stillman School of Business Beta Gamma Sigma 25th Anniversary Celebration & Spring Induction Ceremony Honoring Thomas A. Basilo

South Orange, NJ Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business and its Beta Gamma Sigma chapter will honor nearly 30 new members at its Tuesday, April 11 induction ceremony at 4:30 p.m. in Jubilee Hall on the South Orange campus. Beta Gamma Sigma is the honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International — The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Membership is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.

“Through the years, we have inducted more than 1,000 members, and we continue to strive to be an active chapter of this prestigious honor society,” says Leigh M. Onimus, J.D., assistant dean of undergraduate assessment and special projects in the School and Beta Gamma Sigma chapter adviser. “The 25th anniversary offers us a time to celebrate the academic achievements of our students and faculty.”

Following the induction ceremony, the Stillman School will honor Thomas A. Basilo ’71, chairman and CEO of WithumSmith+Brown Global Assurance, LLC (WS+B GA), an exceptional leader in the local business community.

“Tom has been a leader in driving our Center for Entrepreneurial Studies forward, helping to develop coursework in entrepreneurial studies and forming an advisory board of professionals to inform on curriculum and program initiatives,” Onimus says. “His vision and leadership are invaluable to the program.”

Basilo earned a B.A. in Accounting from Seton Hall in 1971. WS+B GA is a division of WithumSmith+Brown, a top 40 regional accounting firm in the U.S. It was formed in 2005 to provide counsel and project support for Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory mandates as well as various internal audit and risk assurance related services for middle-market companies, both public and private. Basilo spent over 30 years working for two world-class international accounting firms (Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers) focusing mainly on emerging and middle-market companies

The author of numerous articles relating to the impact of Sarbanes-Oxley on privately-held and smaller public companies, Basilo provides his expertise as an adjunct professor at the University, where he teaches an introductory graduate course in entrepreneurial studies.
