Princeton, NJ, August 17, 2007 -
As the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) deadline that requires non-accelerated filers to provide an assessment of internal controls over financial reporting approaches, WithumSmith+Brown Global Assurance (WS+B GA,
www.wsbga.com.), a full-service provider of SOX compliance, internal audit, IT and risk assurance consulting services, announced today it will hold two complimentary seminars on SOX at different locations in New Jersey.
The first seminar is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 17 at the Forsgate Country Club in Monroe, NJ. Attendees must RSVP by Sept. 7. The second will take place Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park, NJ. Those interested in attending must RSVP by Sept. 21. For both events, registration and breakfast will be held from 7:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m., with the seminar following from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Attendees can reply by calling (609) 734-9090 ext. 213, by registering online at www.wsbga.com/SOXseminar or sending an email to seminar_wsbga@withum.com.
The seminars will offer CEOs, Board and Audit Committee members, CFOs and Controllers, Directors of Internal Audit, CIOs and IT managers advice on how to prepare a tailored plan of action to achieve SOX 404 compliance using a top-down risk-based strategy. Issues to be covered during the presentations include:
• Understanding the new developments of the SEC and PCAOB’s new auditing standard, known as AS5.
• Auditor expectations and how to gain their confidence.
• IT Controls and technology aids to compliance.
• Best practices in corporate governance.
• Financial reporting and achieving cost-effective compliance.
The firm’s Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Thomas A. Basilo along with Executive Vice Presidents Ray Broek and Sumit Pal will be featured presenters. The event will also feature Roland Mosimann, President & Co-Founder of BI International.
“Compliance by the deadline is not an option,” said Basilo. “Businesses should not wait any longer to begin the process since the planning, documentation, control assessment and testing could take three to nine months to complete.” Basilo added, “These seminars will offer WS+B GA’s subject matter expertise and provide direction for attaining compliance as well as elaborate on the strategic benefits of SOX.”
