WS+B Appoints Tom Basilo as Managing Partner of Morristown Office

WithumSmith+Brown (WS+B), Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas A. Basilo, CPA, as managing partner of the firm’s Morristown office, effective January 1, 2007. Basilo, a 35-year veteran of the profession, will also retain his position as the chairman and CEO of WithumSmith+Brown Global Assurance, a division of WS+B that provides expert counsel and project support for Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) and other internal audit and risk assurance related services to both public and private companies.
“Tom is a critical member of the WithumSmith+Brown team, whose experience and strategic thinking has helped our firm expand its services and deepen its presence in the region,” said Ivan Brown, cofounder and managing partner of WS+B. “Our Morristown office is growing quickly and Tom’s stewardship will help guide and manage this important location for us.”
In his new role, Basilo will oversee an operation of 60 professionals and staff, including 13 partners, who serve a variety of WS+B’s practice areas, including construction, health care, real estate and technology/telecom.
In addition to his work with WS+B, Basilo has dedicated the past 25 years serving the entrepreneurial community. He is currently an adjunct professor at his alma mater, Seton Hall University, teaching an introductory graduate school course in entrepreneurial studies, a program he helped create. He also serves as chairman of the board of advisors to the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.
Basilo is a frequent speaker and the author of several articles on the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 on middle market and small businesses. He is also active in several organizations dealing with entrepreneurial issues, including the New Jersey Technology Council, Commerce and Industry Association of NJ, Association for Corporate Growth, and the Garden State Credit Association. Basilo is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New Jersey Society of Certified Pubic Accountants (NJSCPA) and is a CPA in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.
